Sporting ambassadors of a primary school in Seaham are swimming in pride at their achievements in a regional competition.

The Key Stage 2 swimming team of St Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Primary School, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, won the Easington School Sports Partnership KS2 Swimming Gala.

Following their win, they went on to compete in the Durham County Finals KS2 Swimming Gala where they secured an impressive bronze place in the competition.

Nathan Shaw, 11, a Year 6 pupil of the Dene House Road school, said: “At first, I was a little nervous but then I became really excited. We did really well and worked as a team – it was so much fun.”

Year 6 pupil Amelia Charlton, also 11, said: “I loved cheering each other on as we raced. It was great to be part of the team.”

Headteacher Andrea Goodwin said: “The children have been fantastic ambassadors for our school, representing us at the County Finals. We are all proud of what they have achieved together.”
