Bishop Chadwick

Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust was established in 2016, following a directive from the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle. We are a multi-academy Trust and currently have 30 schools, five secondary schools with sixth forms, and 25 primary schools. With four more primary schools set to join us by the end of 2023.

The Trust covers the East part of the North-East region, our schools are in Durham, South Tyneside and Sunderland.

Bishop James Chadwick (Born: 24 April 1813, Drogheda, Ireland Died: 14 May 1882, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, buried at Ushaw). Was an Anglo-Irish Roman Catholic priest, and second Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle. He is famous for writing the lyrics of the song Angels We Have Heard on High. Chadwick is remembered as a man of great personal dignity and charm, and for his gentleness of manner.

Bishop Chadwick Prayer

Dear Lord,
May we always follow the example of Bishop Chadwick. As we strive to follow his deep faith, and love of education may we do so with humility, and love, following his gentleness and kindness. May he always be an inspiration to us all, students and staff.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
