Sunderland girls’ school to hold Year 7 open evening

A Sunderland girls’ school is holding an open evening for prospective Year 7 pupils on Tuesday 26th September.

St Anthony’s Girls Catholic Academy, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in January 2023.

The Catholic secondary and sixth form, which is open to girls aged from 11 to 18, was established in 1904 and has been delivering high-quality education for young women for over a century.

Four in five girls achieved five or more GCSEs at grade 4 and above including English and maths at St Anthony’s in August. Its fantastic GCSE results included 10% of all grades at levels 8 or 9.

Head of school Marie Lanaghan said: “We were delighted with our GCSE results this year. Our students have worked incredibly hard and shown great resilience, and we are so proud of what they have achieved. This success is also testament to the hard work, support and encouragement from our team of dedicated staff.

  • St Anthony’s open evening for Year 6 pupils and their parents/carers will be held on Tuesday 26th September from 6pm to 8pm.
