Students and staff at St Wilfrid’s RC College, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, are celebrating their GCSE results, with 75% of all grades being at a grade 4 or above, and 25 % of all grades at a grade 7 or above. 17% of pupils achieved all their grades at a seven or above.
Executive Headteacher Francesca Craik said, “Our wonderful students continue to delight our whole school community. Their excellent results are testimony to months of hard work and perseverance. Many of our students are returning to our highly successful Sixth Form where we will enjoy seeing them develop further. We are all very proud of our students’ achievements and wish them a wonderful day of celebration with their family and friends.”
Alex Connor, who achieved an outstanding 9,9,9,9,8,8,8,7, Distinction, said “I am very shocked but in a good way! I rang my Mam straight away and she started crying with happiness. I’m planning to stay at St Wilfrid’s Sixth Form because I love how familiar it is, and I know I’ll be supported. I’m planning to study sciences and psychology.”
Macy Bulman was rewarded for her hard work with 99 8888 777 D*, Macy said, “I’m happy – they’re even better than I expected.” We wish Macy good luck as she is going on to the prestigious Marine School to study engineering.
Ethan Black, who is planning to stay at St Wilfrid’s RC College’s Sixth Form to study math, physics and philosophy and ethics, received 9999 888 77 D*. He wanted to thank all his teachers for all their hard work that they’ve put in, “Every single teacher deserves a shout out- there’s too many to mention. Anyone that’s joining St Wilfrid’s in September should know it’s an excellent choice.”
Other notably high achievers were Maisy Tomlin, who received achieved 9999 88888 D* and Chloe Warnock, who was delighted with her achievement of grades 9999 88888 7. Chloe says she was relieved, “Waiting to get the results I was trying to not think about it as it was so nerve-racking but now, I’ve got them I can just focus on the future. I’m so happy – it’s the best thing I could have hoped for.”
Brogan Forster celebrated her results of 99999 888 77. Brogan said, “I’m very happy with my results they’re really good. When I opened the envelope, I hoped they’d be good, but I was nervous. Next year I plan to stay at St Wilfrid’s for Sixth form and I’d like to study biology chemistry history and psychology.”
