
A multi-academy trust in the North-east, which celebrated above average A Level and GCSE results across the board, has announced its open evenings for students in Years 6 and 11.
Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust has 31 schools across South Tyneside, Sunderland and East Durham, including four Sixth Forms and five secondary schools with Good or Outstanding Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) ratings.
They include St Aidan’s Catholic Academy and St Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy in Sunderland which also have a shared St Aidan’s & St Anthony’s Catholic Sixth Form, St Bede’s Catholic School & Byron Sixth Form in Peterlee, St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Hebburn, and St Wilfrid’s RC College in South Shields.
The Trust’s combined GCSE results were higher than the national average. Across the five schools, 56% of the Trust’s GCSE grades were 9-5 (national average 55%) and 73% of GCSE grades were 9-4 (national average 70%).
St Joseph’s Catholic Academy achieved its highest A Level results in the past four years with over 75% of students attaining A*-C grades or their vocational equivalent, and 100% pass rate for BTECs with an average grade Distinction.
The class of 2026 at St Wilfrid’s RC College achieved an impressive overall average grade of B at A Level, and 84% of all grades awarded at A* to C and 28% achieved at A* to A. More than two-thirds of technical qualification grades were awarded at Distinction* to Distinction, while students studying technical qualifications achieved remarkable success, with 100% of technical qualifications graded at Merit or above.
Many A Level students at St Bede’s Catholic School & Byron Sixth have chosen pathways related to healthcare and education, from Paramedic Practice to Health & Social Care, while at St Aidan’s and St Anthony’s Catholic Sixth Form students have once again achieved exceptional results across the board with 15% of A Level students achieving A*- A and 45.3% achieving A*-B.
