Students at St Bede’s Catholic School and Byron Sixth Form College, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, are celebrating their hard work, determination and resilience opening doors to exciting futures.

Among those celebrating today is Chloe Laidler, who achieved A, A and Distinction* in Biology, Geography and BTEC Health & Social Care. She will now progress to Teesside University to study Paramedic Practice, taking the next step towards a rewarding career in healthcare.

Also celebrating is Grace Purvis, who achieved an impressive AAB in English Literature, History, and Philosophy & Ethics. Grace has secured a place at Durham University, where she will study Ancient History. Her results reflect her passion for the humanities and her dedication throughout her studies.

Kaylm Rowland achieved a remarkable AAA* in Geography, English Literature and Spanish, earning a place at Durham University to study Geography. His exceptional achievement highlights both his academic ability and commitment to excellence across a range of subjects.

Other students celebrating include, Eve Antliff, who has been accepted to study Architecture at Newcastle University, Sean Fairs, who will pursue a degree in History. Dalraj Jawanda is progressing to the University of Liverpool to study Chemistry, and Niyah Sajan will begin a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Nottingham.

Rachel Huddleston-Scutt, Head of Year (Sixth Form), said: “I am particularly proud that so many Byron students have chosen pathways related to healthcare and education, reflecting a strong commitment to serving and supporting others within our community.

Notable destinations include Millie Hudson, who will begin a degree in Paediatric Nursing at Teesside University in January, Lauren Balls, who will study Physiotherapy at the University of Sunderland, and Chloe Laidler, who will undertake a degree in Paramedic Practice at Teesside University.

We are also celebrating success beyond traditional university routes. Following exceptional work experience with a London-based marketing firm, Lauren Meakin has secured an apprenticeship with Hays Travel, demonstrating the value of high-quality employer engagement and practical workplace experience.

These achievements reflect the ambition, resilience, and dedication of this year’s cohort, and I am immensely proud of all they have accomplished.”
