St Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy, part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, had 23 students compete in the cross-country competition, which included races for Y7, Junior (Y8 and Y9) and Intermediate (Y10 and Y11).
The race is the first of a national competition leading to the English Schools’ Cross-Country next spring.
“Some students were competing for the first time and all students were amazing, especially in the adverse weather conditions,” said Amy Roddam, PE and sport subject leader at the Thornhill Terrace school.
“They showed grit and determination in difficult circumstances to perform as part of the team and we are so proud of them all.”
Students who finished in the top 12 of their race, have been selected by the county team managers to represent Sunderland Schools at the Durham County Schools’ Cross-Country at Farringdon on Saturday, 14th January.
