Excited GCSE students celebrate their results in Hebburn

Delighted year 11 students collect their GCSE results at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Hebburn, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust.

72% of students achieved 5 grades 9-4 and 70% achieved a standard pass in both Maths and English. Those students who sat examinations in in Computer Science performed exceptionally well with 40% achieving a grade 7 or above.  Additionally, more than a quarter of the students in Art and Business achieved a grade 7 (or Distinction) or above,

Acting Headteacher Suzanne Lewis-Dale said “We are proud of all our students. 

“Their results are testament to their own hard work and dedication and also the consistent support and encouragement from our entire staff body”

The majority of students will be continuing their educational journey at St Joseph’s Sixth Form.

Charlie Caroll-Leonard was delighted to receive his results with three grade 9’s in maths, computer science and chemistry alongside four grade 8’s, one grade 7 and one grade 6.  Charlie will be joining St Joseph’s Sixth Form and will be studying Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Maths.

Lucy Anderson was thrilled to receive a grade 9 in English Literature in addition to three grade 8’s, three grade 7’s, a Distinction * in Business Studies with one grade 6.  Lucy will be joining St Joseph’s Sixth Form next year and will be studying Psychology, French and Law.

Well done to Jessica Devlin who achieved three grade 8’s, a Distinction * in Business Studies, one grade 7, four grade 6’s and one grade 5.

Luke Burdis achieved two grade 8’s, four grade 7’s, three grade 6 and one grade 5.

 “We wish all our students well as they progress onto their chosen next steps including staying on into sixth form, continuing with their education elsewhere or taking up an apprenticeship and training.

St. Joseph’s open evening for Year 6 pupils is on Thursday 26 September 2024. Their 6th Form open evening is on Thursday 14 November 2024.
