Tomato Sauce



4 tins of chopped tomatoes

1 large onion finely diced

4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped

1 small bunch of basil leaves, chopped

1 pinch of dried oregano

½ a tube of tomato puree

Salt and pepper


  1. Heat a small amount of olive oil or butter in a pan and cook onions, garlic and herbs till soft.
  2. Add the puree and cook gently for 2 minutes.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and half a tin of water.
  4. Cook for approximately 1 hour.
  5. Season to taste.
